LOCAL AND STATE OFFICIALS TO SIGN JOINT STATEMENT TO PRESIDENT-ELECT BARACK OBAMA OPPOSING THE BORDER WALL

On Wednesday, December 3, 2008, elected officials representing the City of El Paso, El Paso County, and the State of Texas, including Senator Eliot Shapleigh and County Attorney José R. Rodríguez, will hold a press conference to discuss the content of a joint letter they will be sending to President-elect Barack Obama in opposition to the Border Wall.

The joint statement will be issued as part of he National Border Wall Summit that is currently taking place in El Paso.

The two-day summit is being organized by the organization “Border Ambassadors,” and brings together diverse organizations, individuals, and elected officials from along the border and across the country to collaborate on border wall opposition strategy.
